The parabolic curve controls fungus formation to reduce chipping and cracking. Heads should be restored to their original shape with hand files as needed. The tough steel alloy is machined and differentially heat-treated for optimal performance. The hardness of the striking head is reduced to aid toughness and add qualities that result in slower fungus formation of the striking surface.
